Enrichment & Extension Programme

Our Enrichment and Extension activities not only give students the chance to further develop their skills learnt in lessons but allows them to try new activities not typically taught in the curriculum.

Here at Harris Academy Purley we value every opportunity to extend the learning for our students. Activities run before school, during lunch and after school, every day.

Clubs and Activities

Clubs are an important strand in the Academy's wider curriculum. Students have access to a variety of clubs before school, during lunch and after school. We use a system called SOCS to monitor students' attendance to clubs and issue rewards to those with exceptional participation.

Clubs rotate on a termly basis. They are advertised to students within subject departments and on our E&E display boards around the Academy. Some examples of clubs and activities that have run this year include:

Gardening Club Basketball Anime Club Portuguese Club
Science for Life Table Tennis Coding Club  Film Club
Cheerleading and Dance Kitchen Skills Sport Day Training Homework Support

Extra-Curricular Sport

We offer a range of extra-curricular sports clubs that are open to all year groups. These clubs meet for weekly training sessions and regularly play competitive matches against local schools.

Please see our Sports at Purley for further information about our facilities and sports clubs.

Through a DofE programme young people have fun, make friends, improve their self-esteem and build confidence. They gain essential skills and attributes for work and life such as resilience, problem-solving, team-working, communication and drive, enhancing CVs and uni and job applications. Top employers recognise the work-ready skills Award holders bring to their business.

We recently finished our Bronze Expedition with a group of students around Epsom Downs. During this expedition, student had to rely on the orienteering skills they had developed through our practise sessions to reach designated points throughout the day. They also had to erect their tent and prepare a meal in the evening.
