Business
Why we teach business at Harris Academy Purley
Studying Business will allow students to gain a deeper understanding of how businesses work and how the key functional areas of a business contribute towards their success. We will also look at the impact of both internal and external decision making and how businesses must respond to them in order to succeed.
Throughout the course, students will be introduced to a range of models, theories and calculations which will allow them to develop the ability to critically analyse and assess the performance of a business both against their previous performances and others within the same market.
To be successful, students will be encouraged to read outside of classroom and engage in current affairs through journals and news publications from both the UK and abroad. This will allow them to see the theories they have learnt put into real life scenarios, as well as develop their literacy skills and use of business language.
Students will learn how to analyse case studies and evaluate the decisions made by businesses as well as understand the importance of the external environment on all organisations. Our curriculum will allow students to become comfortable when conversing on topics including politics, economics, and psychology and how business plays a role in aspects of all of them.
What exam board do we follow?
